25.1 Overview
The Social Links section allows the card owner to connect the digital VCard to public websites, social-media profiles, communication services, video channels, online communities, and other profile-based destinations.
The programmed Social Links screen contains fields for:
Website
X / Twitter
Facebook
Instagram
Reddit
Tumblr
YouTube
LinkedIn
WhatsApp
Pinterest
TikTok
Snapchat
It also provides an Add Social Link button for adding other platforms that are not included in the standard list. Each added custom social link contains its own uploaded icon, destination, and delete control.
Social Links are normally presented as recognizable icons rather than long visitor-facing button labels. Their exact appearance depends on the selected VCard template.
25.2 Social Links Versus Custom Links
The Social Links and Custom Links sections both connect visitors to other destinations, but they serve different purposes.
Social Links
Use for public profiles, channels, communities, and communication platforms.
Examples:
Facebook business page
Instagram profile
LinkedIn company page
YouTube channel
TikTok profile
WhatsApp conversation
Custom Links
Use for named actions, resources, forms, portals, and external webpages.
Examples:
Schedule a Consultation
Apply for the Program
Download the Brochure
Access the Customer Portal
Register for the Event
A Social Link is identified primarily by its platform icon. A Custom Link uses a visitor-facing name and can be displayed as a button.
25.3 Social Links Versus Social Embeds
A Social Link sends the visitor to a social platform.
An embed displays content from that platform inside the public VCard.
Example:
Instagram Social Link:
Opens the complete Instagram profile.
Instagram Embed:
Displays selected Instagram posts or Reels inside the VCard.
Another example:
LinkedIn Social Link:
Opens a personal or company LinkedIn page.
LinkedIn Embed:
Displays selected LinkedIn posts inside the VCard.
Use both when the card should display selected content while also allowing visitors to open the complete profile.
25.4 Opening Social Links
From the dashboard:
- Select VCards.
- Locate the digital card you want to update.
- Select the card name or the Edit icon.
- Select Social Links from the VCard editor menu.
On a phone or smaller screen, select the menu icon inside the editor before choosing Social Links.
The Social Links option appears between Appointments and Custom Links within the VCard editing menu.
25.5 Understanding the Social Links Screen
The screen contains:
A note about custom icon filenames
Add Social Link
Standard platform fields
Existing custom social links
Save
Discard
The standard platforms already have their official or recognizable icons assigned by the interface.
For the standard fields, the card owner normally needs to enter only the complete destination address.
The standard fields are optional. Leave a field blank when the VCard should not display that platform.
General Link Requirements
25.6 Enter Complete Public Addresses
Enter the complete public address for each destination.
Correct:
Incorrect:
Incorrect:
Incorrect:
Using the complete https:// address provides the most reliable visitor experience.
25.7 Use Visitor-Facing Pages
The address should lead to the page an ordinary visitor is intended to see.
Use:
Public profile
Public company page
Public channel
Public community
Public website
Public contact destination
Do not use:
Administrative dashboard
Profile editor
Analytics page
Business Manager
Creator Studio
Private account settings
Developer console
Internal preview
Always test the address while signed out of the social platform.
25.8 Copying a Profile Address
A reliable process is:
- Open the public profile or page.
- Confirm that the correct account is displayed.
- Copy the address from the browser.
- Open a private or incognito window.
- Paste the address.
- Confirm that the profile is publicly available.
- Enter the tested address in Social Links.
Do not copy the address while viewing an administrative page.
25.9 Public and Private Profiles
A Social Link can be saved even when the destination requires a login or is private, but ordinary visitors may not be able to see the intended content.
Before publishing, confirm that:
- The profile exists.
- The profile is intended for public viewing.
- The organization owns or controls the profile.
- Visitors are not sent to an access-denied page.
- The profile is not suspended.
- The destination does not require administrative permission.
25.10 Leave Unused Fields Blank
Do not enter placeholder text such as:
N/A
Coming Soon
None
Not Available
A Social Link field is intended for an address.
When a platform is not currently used, leave its field blank.
Add the address later when the official profile is ready.
Website
25.11 Understanding the Website Field
The Website field connects the VCard to the cardholder’s principal public website or another primary web destination.
Example:
https://poweredbyaiunify.com
The public card normally presents this destination using a globe or website icon.
The Website field is the first standard field on the Social Links screen.
25.12 Choosing the Website Destination
Suitable Website destinations include:
- Main company website
- Professional portfolio
- Personal professional website
- Organization homepage
- Primary campaign website
- Official program website
- Customer-facing landing page
Use Custom Links when several separately named website destinations are needed.
25.13 Website Field Versus URL Alias
The Website field is not the same as the VCard’s URL Alias.
VCard URL Alias
Creates the public address for the digital card.
Example:
https://book.poweredbyaiunify.com/aiunify
Website
Connects visitors from the VCard to another website.
Example:
https://poweredbyaiunify.com
Do not replace the VCard URL Alias merely because the organization has a separate website.
25.14 Testing the Website Link
Confirm that:
- The website loads securely.
- The business name is correct.
- The page is mobile-friendly.
- Navigation works.
- No temporary maintenance page appears.
- The domain has not expired.
- The page does not redirect to an unrelated organization.
X or Twitter
25.15 Understanding the Twitter Field
The data field remains labeled Twitter, while the interface uses the current X-style icon.
The field can accept the public X or legacy Twitter profile address.
Examples:
https://x.com/username
https://twitter.com/username
The platform may redirect a legacy Twitter address to the corresponding X destination.
25.16 Choosing the Correct X Destination
Use the public profile address.
Do not use:
- Post-composer address
- Analytics page
- Account settings
- Advertising dashboard
- Direct-message inbox
- Temporary login address
A specific public post can be linked, but the profile address is usually more appropriate for the standard Social Link.
Use Custom Links, Blogs, or Gallery content when one specific post needs special emphasis.
25.17 Testing the X Profile
Open the address privately and confirm that:
- The correct username appears.
- The profile is not suspended.
- The account is public when public viewing is intended.
- The profile represents the correct person or business.
- The link does not open an editing or login-only page.
Facebook
25.18 Entering a Facebook Address
Use the public Facebook page or profile address.
Example:
https://www.facebook.com/examplebusiness
For a business VCard, the official business page is normally more appropriate than an employee’s unrelated personal profile.
25.19 Avoid Facebook Administrative Addresses
Do not copy an address from:
Meta Business Suite
Ads Manager
Page Settings
Professional Dashboard
Administrative Editor
Business Manager
These pages may work only for the administrator and fail for ordinary visitors.
Open the Facebook page as a public visitor before copying the address.
25.20 Facebook Groups
A public or approved community group may be entered when the group is the card’s intended destination.
Before using a group link, confirm that:
- The group accepts the intended audience.
- The invitation or public address works.
- Membership requirements are clearly explained.
- The group is operated by the correct organization.
- The link does not expire.
Instagram
25.21 Entering an Instagram Profile
Use the public Instagram profile address.
Example:
https://www.instagram.com/examplebusiness/
The standard Instagram Social Link should normally point to the complete profile rather than an individual post.
25.22 Instagram Link Versus Instagram Embed
Use the Social Link for:
Opening the complete Instagram profile
Following the account
Reviewing all public posts
Use Instagram Embed for:
Displaying selected posts or Reels inside the VCard
An Instagram profile can be linked even when no Instagram embeds have been added.
25.23 Testing Instagram
Confirm that:
- The username is spelled correctly.
- The account has not been renamed.
- The profile is public when public access is intended.
- The account belongs to the correct business.
- The address does not open a private editing area.
- The profile loads on a phone.
Reddit
25.24 Entering a Reddit Destination
The Reddit field can link to a public user profile, organization profile, or community.
Examples:
https://www.reddit.com/user/exampleuser/
https://www.reddit.com/r/examplecommunity/
Choose the destination most relevant to the VCard’s audience.
25.25 Using a Reddit Community
Before linking a community, confirm that:
- The community is active.
- It relates to the organization.
- Its public content is appropriate.
- Its rules are understood.
- The organization is authorized to represent its relationship with the community.
Do not imply ownership or endorsement of an unrelated community.
Tumblr
25.26 Entering a Tumblr Blog
Use the public Tumblr blog or profile address.
Example:
https://examplebusiness.tumblr.com
Confirm that the blog is active and contains content suitable for the VCard’s audience.
25.27 Reviewing Older Tumblr Accounts
Tumblr blogs may remain online after the business stops maintaining them.
Before adding or retaining the address, review:
- Most recent publication date
- Current branding
- Contact details
- External links
- Images
- Former products or services
- Archived announcements
Remove the link when the profile is outdated and no longer represents the organization accurately.
YouTube
25.28 Entering a YouTube Destination
Use a public YouTube channel, handle, playlist, or video address.
For a standard Social Link, the channel is normally the most useful destination.
Examples:
https://www.youtube.com/@examplechannel
https://www.youtube.com/channel/CHANNEL_ID
Do not use a YouTube Studio address.
25.29 YouTube Social Link Versus Gallery Video
Use the YouTube Social Link when visitors should open:
- The complete channel
- All published videos
- The organization’s YouTube identity
- A public playlist
Use the Gallery’s YouTube type when one specific video should be displayed as part of the VCard’s media collection.
25.30 YouTube Visibility
Confirm that:
- The channel is public.
- The channel name is current.
- The organization owns the channel.
- Published videos match the card’s audience.
- The destination does not open YouTube Studio.
- Removed or private videos are not being used as the primary destination.
LinkedIn
25.31 Entering a LinkedIn Profile
Use the public LinkedIn personal profile or company page.
Examples:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/example-person/
https://www.linkedin.com/company/example-company/
Use a company page for an organization-focused VCard and a personal profile for an individual professional card.
25.32 Avoid LinkedIn Administrative Addresses
Do not use:
- Company-page admin view
- Analytics
- Campaign Manager
- Recruiter dashboard
- Post editor
- Account settings
- Private messaging page
Test the profile while signed out or in a private browser window.
25.33 LinkedIn Link Versus LinkedIn Embed
The Social Link opens the complete profile or company page.
The LinkedIn Embed section displays selected original LinkedIn posts inside the VCard.
The two features can be used together.
WhatsApp
25.34 Entering a WhatsApp Link
The WhatsApp field should contain a visitor-facing WhatsApp conversation address.
A common format is:
https://wa.me/13135550100
Use:
Country code
+
Area code
+
Telephone number
inside the address, but enter the number as digits only.
Do not include:
Plus sign
Spaces
Parentheses
Hyphens
Example telephone number:
WhatsApp address:
https://wa.me/13135550100
25.35 Adding a Prepared WhatsApp Message
A WhatsApp link may include an approved prewritten message.
Example structure:
https://wa.me/13135550100?text=I%20would%20like%20more%20information
The text must be encoded correctly so spaces and special characters do not break the address.
Test the final address before saving it.
25.36 WhatsApp Social Link Versus WhatsApp Store
WhatsApp Social Link
Opens a direct WhatsApp conversation.
WhatsApp Store
Provides a connected product-store experience with store content and ordering features.
The Social Link does not replace a configured WhatsApp Store.
A VCard can use both when visitors should have access to the store and a direct communication option.
25.37 Testing WhatsApp
Test the link on a phone and desktop computer.
Confirm that:
- The correct number appears.
- The correct country code is used.
- The intended account is active on WhatsApp.
- The prepared message is accurate.
- No private employee number was used accidentally.
- The link does not open an unrelated contact.
Pinterest
25.38 Entering a Pinterest Destination
Use a public Pinterest profile or board address.
Examples:
https://www.pinterest.com/examplebusiness/
https://www.pinterest.com/examplebusiness/product-ideas/
Use the profile when visitors should explore all content. Use a board when one collection is specifically connected to the VCard.
25.39 Reviewing Pinterest Content
Confirm that:
- The account belongs to the correct organization.
- The board is public.
- Images are appropriate.
- Product links remain current.
- Removed products are not still being promoted.
- Copyright and image permissions have been reviewed.
TikTok
25.40 Entering a TikTok Profile
Use the public TikTok profile address.
Example:
https://www.tiktok.com/@examplebusiness
Use the full profile address rather than entering only:
25.41 TikTok Review
Confirm that:
- The profile is public when public viewing is intended.
- The username is current.
- The videos represent the organization appropriately.
- The profile does not belong to a former employee.
- The destination works in both a browser and the TikTok application.
- The account has not been removed or renamed.
Snapchat
25.42 Entering a Snapchat Destination
Use an approved public profile, share, or add-friend address supplied by Snapchat.
The exact address can depend on how the account shares its public profile.
Copy the public destination from the profile’s sharing controls and test it before entering it in the VCard.
25.43 Snapchat Privacy Review
Snapchat may be more personal than other business platforms.
Before publishing the link, confirm that:
- The account is intended for public or customer communication.
- The account belongs to the organization or authorized cardholder.
- Personal content is not exposed unintentionally.
- The public-profile settings are correct.
- The destination works for visitors who are not already connected.
Adding Other Social Platforms
25.44 Using Add Social Link
Select Add Social Link when the desired platform is not included in the standard fields.
The system adds a new custom row containing:
Custom icon
Link field
Delete control
Multiple custom rows can be added before saving. The interface does not display a separate platform-name field; the icon and its uploaded filename are used to identify the custom destination.
25.45 Suitable Custom Social Destinations
Custom rows may be used for services such as:
Threads
Telegram
Discord
WeChat
Vimeo
Behance
Dribbble
GitHub
Medium
Twitch
SoundCloud
Spotify
Substack
Mastodon
Professional directories
Industry communities
The destination must still be a public, approved address.
25.46 Custom Social Link Requirements
Every custom row requires:
A custom row with an empty link cannot be saved.
A newly added custom row without an icon also cannot be saved.
The Social Links form validates the custom rows before submitting the VCard update.
Preparing the Custom Icon
25.47 Supported Icon Formats
Custom Social Link icons must use:
The browser may allow selection of another image type, but the Social Links save process rejects unsupported extensions.
PNG is often the most practical option for a clean platform icon, especially when the image uses a transparent background.
25.48 Choosing a Custom Icon
Use an icon that is:
- Recognizable
- Clear at a small size
- Centered
- High contrast
- Free of unnecessary text
- Authorized for use
- Consistent with the platform or destination
Avoid:
- Full photographs
- Wide banners
- Tiny screenshots
- Complex illustrations
- Images containing several logos
- Low-resolution icons
- Unauthorized brand marks
The editor displays the custom icon as a small preview beside its link field.
25.49 Why the Icon Filename Matters
The Social Links screen includes a note explaining that the uploaded custom icon’s filename is used as the label when a visitor downloads the VCard as a .vcf contact file.
Examples of useful filenames:
WeChat.png
Telegram.png
Discord.png
GitHub.png
Portfolio.png
Unhelpful filename:
The unhelpful filename may become the recognizable label associated with that URL in the downloaded contact. Rename the icon before uploading it.
25.50 Naming Custom Icons
Use a concise platform or destination name.
Good:
Telegram.png
GitHub.png
Vimeo.png
Behance.png
Podcast.png
Avoid:
newicon.png
logo123.png
download.png
screenshot.png
final-final.png
Do not include passwords, customer names, internal project codes, or confidential information in the filename.
25.51 Image Rights
Use:
- Officially permitted platform icons
- Organization-owned icons
- Properly licensed images
- Approved custom graphics
Do not copy a trademarked or copyrighted image from an unrelated website without authorization.
The card owner remains responsible for the content displayed through the public VCard.
Creating a Custom Social Link
25.52 Adding the Row
To create a custom social destination:
- Select Add Social Link.
- Locate the new row at the end of the Social Links form.
- Select the icon-edit control.
- Choose a PNG, JPG, or JPEG icon.
- Confirm the image selection or crop.
- Enter the complete public destination.
- Repeat the process for other custom platforms.
- Select Save.
- Review the public VCard.
25.53 Entering the Custom Destination
Enter the complete destination in the text field beside the icon.
Example:
https://github.com/exampleorganization
Another example:
https://t.me/examplebusiness
Do not enter only:
The custom row does not provide a separate title field, so the icon and its filename should clearly represent the destination.
25.54 Adding Several Custom Rows
Select Add Social Link again for every additional platform.
For example:
Row 1:
Icon filename: Telegram.png
Link: https://t.me/examplebusiness
Row 2:
Icon filename: GitHub.png
Link: https://github.com/exampleorganization
Row 3:
Icon filename: Vimeo.png
Link: https://vimeo.com/examplecompany
Complete every visible custom row before selecting Save.
An unused blank custom row should be removed with its trash icon.
25.55 Avoiding Too Many Social Icons
A large number of icons can make the card difficult to understand.
Prioritize the destinations that visitors are genuinely expected to use.
A professional card may need only:
Website
LinkedIn
Facebook
Instagram
WhatsApp
A content creator may instead prioritize:
Website
YouTube
TikTok
Instagram
X
Spotify
Do not add a platform merely because the business created an account years ago.
Saving Social Links
25.56 Reviewing the Form
Before saving, confirm that:
Every standard address is complete.
Every destination belongs to the correct account.
Every custom row contains a link.
Every custom row contains an icon.
Custom icons use PNG, JPG, or JPEG.
Custom icon filenames are meaningful.
Unused custom rows were removed.
Select Save.
The form validates custom-link addresses and icon files before submitting the update.
25.57 Successful Save
After a successful update:
- Wait for the confirmation message.
- Reopen Social Links.
- Confirm that the addresses remain in their fields.
- Confirm that custom icon previews remain visible.
- Open the public VCard.
- Test every displayed icon.
Do not leave the page before the update completes.
25.58 Using Discard
Select Discard to leave the Social Links editor without saving the current changes.
Discard returns to the VCards list.
It does not:
- Delete previously saved Social Links
- Delete the VCard
- Remove previously saved custom icons
- Change Custom Links
- Remove Instagram or LinkedIn embeds
Changes made since the last successful save are lost.
Editing Standard Social Links
25.59 Updating a Profile Address
Update a standard field when:
- The username changed.
- The company created a new page.
- An employee account was replaced.
- The business moved to another profile.
- The original page was deleted.
- The address redirects incorrectly.
- A personal profile should be replaced with a company profile.
To update:
- Open Social Links.
- Locate the platform.
- Replace the existing address.
- Select Save.
- Test the icon publicly.
25.60 Removing a Standard Social Link
To remove one standard platform:
- Open Social Links.
- Clear the complete address from that platform’s field.
- Select Save.
- Refresh the public VCard.
- Confirm that the icon is gone.
The standard fields do not have separate delete buttons.
25.61 No Individual Status Switch
The standard Social Links do not provide:
Active
Inactive
Published
Draft
To show a platform, save its address.
To remove it from public presentation, clear the address and save.
25.62 No Custom Label for Standard Fields
The standard platform fields do not contain a separate visitor-facing label field.
For example, the Facebook destination uses the standard Facebook icon rather than a custom label such as:
Join Our Facebook Community
Use a Custom Link when a descriptive action label is required.
25.63 No Color or Button Controls
The Social Links screen does not provide:
- Icon color selection
- Background color selection
- Button style
- Rounded or Square option
- New-tab switch
- Public caption field
The selected VCard template controls the standard social icon presentation.
Use Custom CSS only when a qualified developer has reviewed the desired visual adjustment.
Editing Custom Social Links
25.64 Updating a Custom Destination
To change a custom link:
- Open Social Links.
- Locate the custom icon.
- Replace the address in its text field.
- Keep or replace the icon.
- Select Save.
- Test the destination publicly.
- Download a new contact file when the change affects VCF information.
25.65 Replacing a Custom Icon
To replace an existing icon:
- Select the icon-edit control.
- Choose a PNG, JPG, or JPEG image.
- Confirm the preview.
- Verify that the new filename provides the correct VCF label.
- Select Save.
- Review the public VCard.
- Download and inspect a new contact file.
When no replacement image is selected during ordinary editing, the existing custom icon remains associated with the link.
25.66 Changing the VCF Label
Because the uploaded icon filename is used as the custom URL’s contact label, changing only the visible destination may not correct an inaccurate VCF label.
To change the label:
- Prepare a new icon file.
- Rename it with the desired platform name.
- Reopen Social Links.
- Replace the custom icon.
- Confirm the destination.
- Select Save.
- Download the VCard contact again.
- Review the imported URL label.
Deleting Custom Social Links
25.67 Using the Trash Control
Each custom row contains a trash icon.
To remove a custom destination:
- Open Social Links.
- Locate the custom icon and address.
- Select the trash icon.
- Confirm that the row disappears from the form.
- Select Save.
- Refresh the public VCard.
- Confirm that the icon is gone.
The trash control removes the custom row from the editing form. Saving applies the updated Social Links configuration.
25.68 Removing an Unsaved Blank Row
When Add Social Link was selected accidentally:
- Locate the blank custom row.
- Select its trash icon.
- Confirm that the row disappears.
- Continue editing or select Save.
Leaving the blank row in place may prevent the Social Links form from saving because custom rows require both an address and an icon.
25.69 No Visible Restore Option
The Social Links editor does not provide a recycle bin or restore control.
Before removing a custom row, retain:
Destination address
Icon file
Icon filename
Platform name
A removed custom link must be recreated when it is needed again.
Public Presentation
25.70 How Social Links Appear
The selected template determines:
- Icon size
- Icon color treatment
- Icon background
- Spacing
- Alignment
- Position
- Row wrapping
- Hover effects
- Mobile layout
Some templates may display icons near the Header. Others may place them in a separate contact or social area.
Review every template change publicly.
25.71 No Separate Manage Section Switch
The Manage Section screen does not contain a separate Social Links checkbox.
Social Links are managed directly through the Social Links editor.
To hide an individual standard link, clear its address.
To hide a custom link, remove its row and save.
To hide all Social Links, clear the standard fields, remove the custom rows, and save.
25.72 Social-Link Order
The standard fields appear in a programmed sequence:
Website
X / Twitter
Facebook
Instagram
Reddit
Tumblr
YouTube
LinkedIn
WhatsApp
Pinterest
TikTok
Snapchat
The selected template may determine the final public arrangement.
The Social Links screen does not provide a visible drag-and-drop or sort-number control.
Custom links also do not have a visible sort field.
25.73 Review After Changing Templates
After selecting another template:
- Open the public card.
- Locate all Social Links.
- Confirm that every icon is recognizable.
- Check spacing.
- Check alignment.
- Test each destination.
- Review custom icons.
- Test the card on a phone.
- Confirm that icons do not overlap other controls.
25.74 Mobile Review
On a phone, confirm that:
- Icons remain large enough to select.
- Icons do not extend beyond the screen.
- Several icons wrap cleanly.
- Custom icons remain recognizable.
- WhatsApp opens the intended contact.
- Social applications open appropriately.
- Visitors can return to the VCard.
- The social area does not cover the sticky action bar.
Social Links in Downloaded Contacts
25.75 Understanding the Downloaded VCF
When a visitor uses the VCard’s Add to Contact or contact-download action, the system can create a .vcf contact file.
The downloaded contact can include:
- Cardholder name
- Company
- Job title
- Email addresses
- Telephone numbers
- Location
- Location URL
- Standard Social Links
- Custom Social Links
- Public VCard address
- Profile image
The VCard’s Social Links are added as URL entries in the generated contact file.
25.76 Standard Contact Labels
Standard Social Links use their stored platform field names as contact URL types.
Examples may include:
website
facebook
instagram
linkedin
youtube
whatsapp
The exact appearance after import depends on the visitor’s contact application and device.
Some contact applications may show a label, while others may group the entries as websites.
25.77 Custom Contact Labels
For a custom Social Link, the uploaded icon filename is used to identify the URL in the generated contact.
Example:
Icon filename:
Telegram.png
Destination:
https://t.me/examplebusiness
The downloaded contact can use the icon’s stored name as the URL label.
This is why meaningful filenames are important.
25.78 Testing the Contact File
After configuring Social Links:
- Open the public VCard.
- Select Add to Contact.
- Download the
.vcf file. - Open it on a test device.
- Review the standard Social Links.
- Review the custom link labels.
- Select each imported URL.
- Confirm that the correct destination opens.
- Delete the test contact when appropriate.
- Repeat the test on another major device type where possible.
Contact applications can interpret custom URL labels differently.
Security and Privacy
25.79 Never Enter Account Credentials
Social Link fields must contain public destinations only.
Never enter:
Account password
Administrative username
Recovery code
API key
Access token
OAuth token
Private invitation token
Payment credentials
Session address
Anything stored in a public VCard should be treated as publicly accessible.
25.80 Avoid Private Editing Links
Some platforms produce editing or management addresses containing private identifiers.
Before publishing:
- Open the address privately.
- Confirm that it works without the administrator’s session.
- Confirm that no editing controls appear.
- Confirm that no private token is present.
- Copy the normal public profile address instead.
25.81 Review Personal Accounts
An employee may have connected a personal account when the VCard was created.
Periodically confirm that every link is:
- Approved by the organization
- Appropriate for business use
- Still controlled by the intended person
- Free of confidential personal content
- Consistent with company policy
- Suitable for public visitors
25.82 Former Employees and Contractors
When a cardholder leaves the organization:
- Review all Social Links.
- Remove personal profiles that should no longer appear.
- Replace company-controlled destinations where appropriate.
- Review WhatsApp numbers.
- Review the Website field.
- Review custom platforms.
- Save and test the card.
- Download and inspect a new contact file.
Do not continue directing visitors to accounts no longer associated with the organization.
Maintaining Social Links
25.83 Periodic Link Review
Test Social Links regularly for:
- Renamed usernames
- Deleted profiles
- Suspended accounts
- Broken pages
- Expired invitations
- Incorrect redirects
- Abandoned accounts
- Outdated branding
- Former employee profiles
- Wrong WhatsApp numbers
- Private content
- Security warnings
Remove or replace outdated destinations promptly.
25.84 Reviewing Platform Name Changes
Social platforms can change their names, domains, icons, or address formats.
The interface may continue using an older field label while displaying a newer icon, as with the Twitter field and X icon.
The most important requirement is that the saved address opens the correct current public profile.
25.85 Maintaining Consistent Usernames
Where practical, use consistent public usernames across platforms.
Example:
X: @examplebusiness
Instagram: @examplebusiness
TikTok: @examplebusiness
YouTube: @examplebusiness
Consistency makes the business easier to recognize, although account availability and platform rules may require differences.
25.86 Reviewing Duplicated VCards
After duplicating a VCard:
- Open the duplicated card.
- Select Social Links.
- Review every standard platform.
- Replace the original cardholder’s personal profiles.
- Review the Website address.
- Replace the WhatsApp number where necessary.
- Review every custom icon and destination.
- Select Save.
- Test the duplicate publicly.
- Download a new contact file.
Do not publish a duplicate that still directs visitors to the original person’s private accounts.
Troubleshooting
25.87 “Social Links Is Required”
This message normally means that a custom Social Link row contains a blank destination.
To resolve it:
- Review every custom row.
- Enter the missing complete address, or
- Remove the unused row with its trash icon.
- Select Save again.
