12.1 Overview

The LinkedIn Embed section allows the card owner to display selected LinkedIn posts directly inside a digital VCard.

This is different from adding a LinkedIn profile URL. A social link directs visitors to the cardholder’s LinkedIn profile, while a LinkedIn embed places a specific professional post inside the public card.

The VCard editor contains a dedicated LinkedIn Embed section with controls for adding, editing, and deleting posts.

LinkedIn embeds can be used to feature:

  1. Professional announcements
  2. Business updates
  3. Articles and industry insights
  4. Project highlights
  5. Company achievements
  6. Event announcements
  7. Speaking appearances
  8. Customer success stories
  9. Community partnerships
  10. Product or service updates
  11. Career accomplishments
  12. Educational posts

The current LinkedIn Embed interface supports the Post content type.

12.2 LinkedIn Embed Versus LinkedIn Social Link

The digital card provides separate ways to use LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Social Link

A LinkedIn social link displays the LinkedIn icon and sends visitors to a personal or company profile.

Example:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-smith

Use this when visitors should review the complete LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn Embed

A LinkedIn embed displays a particular LinkedIn post within the digital card.

Use this when the card should feature selected professional content without requiring visitors to leave the card immediately.

A VCard can use both a LinkedIn profile link and LinkedIn embedded posts.

12.3 Opening the LinkedIn Embed Section

From the dashboard:

  1. Select VCards.
  2. Locate the digital card you want to update.
  3. Select the card name or the Edit icon.
  4. Select LinkedIn Embed from the VCard editor menu.

On a phone or smaller screen, select the menu icon inside the editor to display the editing sections.

The LinkedIn Embed screen contains:

How It Works
Add Embed Tag
LinkedIn post table

The post table displays the saved Type, Embed Tag, and management actions.

12.4 Understanding the LinkedIn Embed Table

Each saved LinkedIn entry appears as a separate row.

Type

The Type column identifies the content as:

Post

Embed Tag

The Embed Tag column displays a shortened portion of the stored code.

Because LinkedIn embed code can be long, the management table shows only the beginning of the code followed by an ellipsis.

Actions

Each entry provides:

Edit
Delete

Use Edit to replace or correct the saved information. Use Delete to remove the post from the VCard.

Obtaining a LinkedIn Embed Tag

12.5 Using the How It Works Guide

Select How It Works at the top of the LinkedIn Embed screen.

The system guide instructs the user to:

  1. Open a LinkedIn post using the desktop version of LinkedIn.
  2. Copy the embed tag for that post.
  3. Paste the tag into the VCard’s LinkedIn Embed section.
  4. Save the entry so the post can appear on the public card.

The guide also contains an important compatibility warning:

Only original LinkedIn posts containing ugcPost in the embed code are accepted. Shared posts containing share are not supported.

12.6 Understanding an Original LinkedIn Post

An original post is content published directly by its author or organization.

Its embed code should contain a reference similar to:

ugcPost

This indicates that the code represents a supported original LinkedIn post.

Before saving the code, use the browser’s Find function when necessary and confirm that the embed code includes:

ugcPost

12.7 Shared LinkedIn Posts Are Not Supported

A shared or reposted LinkedIn entry may contain:

share

instead of:

ugcPost

The VCard system does not support those shared-post embed codes.

When the post you want to feature is a repost, locate the original publisher’s post and use the original post’s embed code instead.

Do not manually replace the word share with ugcPost. Changing the text does not convert a shared post into a valid original post and may produce a broken embed.

12.8 Understanding the Embed Tag

A LinkedIn Embed Tag is a block of HTML code used to display the LinkedIn post on another webpage.

A typical code block may contain an iframe similar to:

<iframe
src="https://www.linkedin.com/embed/feed/update/urn:li:ugcPost:..."
frameborder="0"
allowfullscreen
title="Embedded post">
</iframe>

The actual code should be copied from LinkedIn. The example above is only provided to illustrate its general structure.

The important supported identifier is:

ugcPost

12.9 Embed Tag Versus Post URL

A LinkedIn post URL and an Embed Tag are not the same.

A normal post link may resemble:

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/example

The Embed Tag contains HTML code, usually beginning with:

<iframe

The VCard field is designed for the complete embed code rather than only the ordinary post address.

Incorrect:

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/example

Correct type of content:

<iframe src="https://www.linkedin.com/embed/feed/update/urn:li:ugcPost:..."></iframe>

12.10 Copying the Complete Embed Code

When copying the embed tag:

  1. Begin with the first character of the code.
  2. Select the complete code block.
  3. Copy all opening and closing tags.
  4. Preserve quotation marks.
  5. Do not remove the ugcPost identifier.
  6. Do not add explanations before or after the code.
  7. Paste the code directly into the Embed Tag field.

An incomplete code block may save but fail to display correctly.

Adding a LinkedIn Post

12.11 Opening the Add Embed Tag Form

Select Add Embed Tag.

The form opens with two required fields:

Type
Embed Tag

The form also includes:

Save
Discard

The selected VCard is associated with the new entry automatically.

12.12 Selecting the Type

Open the Type dropdown and select:

Post

The LinkedIn Embed section currently uses Post as its supported content type.

The Type field is required and must be selected before the entry can be saved.

12.13 Entering the Embed Tag

Paste the complete LinkedIn embed code into the Embed Tag field.

Before saving, confirm that:

  1. The code belongs to the intended post.
  2. The post is an original LinkedIn post.
  3. The code contains ugcPost.
  4. The code does not represent a shared post.
  5. The complete iframe or embed block was copied.
  6. No unrelated text was included.
  7. The post is still available publicly.

The Embed Tag field is required.

12.14 Saving the LinkedIn Post

Select Save.

When the entry is accepted:

  1. A success message confirms that the Embed Tag was created.
  2. The Add Embed Tag window closes.
  3. The LinkedIn table refreshes.
  4. The new post appears in the list.

The table displays Post as the Type and a shortened version of the embed code.

12.15 Using Discard

Select Discard to close the Add Embed Tag form without saving.

Discard does not affect LinkedIn posts that were previously saved.

Any code entered into the unsaved form will need to be pasted again when the form is reopened.

Selecting Appropriate LinkedIn Content

12.16 Professional Announcements

LinkedIn embeds can be used to feature announcements such as:

  1. A new company launch
  2. A new service
  3. A business expansion
  4. A new partnership
  5. A professional appointment
  6. A certification
  7. An award
  8. An upcoming event

Choose posts that remain relevant to visitors after they have been added to the VCard.

12.17 Thought Leadership

A LinkedIn post can demonstrate the cardholder’s knowledge and professional perspective.

Suitable examples include:

  1. Industry observations
  2. Educational explanations
  3. Business advice
  4. Research findings
  5. Leadership lessons
  6. Technology insights
  7. Financial education content
  8. Professional development guidance

Select content that supports the cardholder’s current services and professional identity.

12.18 Social Proof

LinkedIn embeds may also provide professional credibility through:

  1. Customer success stories
  2. Completed projects
  3. Partnership announcements
  4. Conference appearances
  5. Media coverage
  6. Community initiatives
  7. Testimonials published as original posts
  8. Team achievements

Confirm that all people, companies, customers, students, or organizations shown in the post can appropriately appear on a public digital card.

12.19 Product and Service Updates

Use LinkedIn posts to explain:

  1. A newly released product
  2. A service demonstration
  3. A new program
  4. Updated business capabilities
  5. A case study
  6. A registration opportunity
  7. An upcoming training
  8. A business solution

Make sure the post does not contain expired pricing, old dates, or discontinued information.

Managing Multiple LinkedIn Posts

12.20 Adding More Than One Post

Repeat the Add Embed Tag process for each post you want to display.

Each LinkedIn post is saved as an individual entry.

Example:

Post 1 — Company introduction
Post 2 — Customer success story
Post 3 — New service announcement
Post 4 — Professional article

Review the public card after adding several posts to make sure the LinkedIn section remains focused and easy to navigate.

12.21 Avoiding Duplicate Posts

Before adding a post, review the existing LinkedIn table.

Do not add the same Embed Tag more than once unless duplicate display is intentional.

Because the table shortens long code, open the public card when two entries appear similar and confirm whether they represent the same post.

12.22 Choosing How Many Posts to Display

A small group of strong posts usually creates a better professional presentation than a large collection of unrelated content.

A useful starting point may include:

One company or personal introduction
One professional achievement
One customer or project example
One current service or program update

Additional posts can be added when each provides distinct value.

Too many embedded posts may make the public card longer and increase the time needed to load external content.

12.23 LinkedIn Post Order

The LinkedIn Embed form does not provide a visible Sort field.

After adding multiple posts:

  1. Open the public VCard.
  2. Review the displayed sequence.
  3. Confirm that the most important post appears in a suitable position.
  4. Delete and recreate entries when the order must be changed and no other ordering control is available.

Do not assume that the management-table order will always match the visitor-facing order without testing it.

Editing LinkedIn Posts

12.24 Opening the Edit Form

Select the Edit icon beside the LinkedIn entry you want to change.

The Edit Embed Tag form opens with the saved:

Type
Embed Tag

Both fields can be updated.

12.25 Correcting the Type

Confirm that the Type is set to:

Post

Use the Type field to correct an incomplete or incorrectly saved selection.

Changing the Type does not automatically correct the Embed Tag. Review both fields before saving.

12.26 Replacing the Embed Tag

Delete the old code and paste the complete replacement embed code.

Replace a tag when:

  1. A newer post should be featured.
  2. The original post was removed.
  3. The original code was incomplete.
  4. The post no longer displays.
  5. An announcement has expired.
  6. A newer professional achievement is available.
  7. The wrong LinkedIn post was added.
  8. A shared-post code needs to be replaced with the original post.

Confirm that the replacement contains ugcPost.

12.27 Saving Changes

Select Save after editing.

A success message confirms that the Embed Tag was updated.

The management table then refreshes with the updated information.

Select Discard to close the edit form without saving the changes.

Deleting LinkedIn Posts

12.28 Deleting an Embed

Select the Delete icon beside the LinkedIn entry.

Review the confirmation message and approve the deletion.

The selected post is removed from the VCard’s LinkedIn Feed.

Deleting the embed does not remove the original post from LinkedIn. It only removes that post’s connection to the digital card.

12.29 When to Delete a Post

Delete the embed when:

  1. The post is no longer relevant.
  2. The original post was removed.
  3. The information is outdated.
  4. The post contains an expired date or promotion.
  5. The post belongs to the wrong VCard.
  6. It was added more than once.
  7. A shared-post embed was used.
  8. The content no longer represents the organization.
  9. The post causes a display problem.

Use Edit instead when the entry only needs to be replaced with another post.

Controlling Public Visibility

12.30 Showing the LinkedIn Feed

The complete LinkedIn section can be controlled through Manage Sections.

To display it:

  1. Open the VCard editor.
  2. Select Manage Sections.
  3. Locate LinkedIn Feed.
  4. Select the LinkedIn Feed checkbox.
  5. Save the section settings.
  6. Open the public card and confirm that the section appears.

The LinkedIn Embed editor and the LinkedIn Feed visibility control are separate parts of the VCard editor.

12.31 Hiding LinkedIn Without Deleting Posts

To temporarily hide the LinkedIn section:

  1. Open Manage Sections.
  2. Clear the LinkedIn Feed checkbox.
  3. Save the change.

The saved LinkedIn Embed records remain stored.

This is useful when:

  1. The posts are being reviewed.
  2. The card is being redesigned.
  3. Current posts are outdated.
  4. The card should load with fewer external sections.
  5. A new campaign is being prepared.
  6. The VCard should temporarily emphasize other information.

Re-enable LinkedIn Feed later to restore the section.

12.32 Empty LinkedIn Feed

Avoid enabling the LinkedIn Feed when no working posts have been added.

An empty section may create unnecessary space or provide no useful visitor content.

Add at least one supported original post and verify it publicly before enabling the section.

Reviewing the Public LinkedIn Feed

12.33 Previewing the LinkedIn Section

After adding or changing a LinkedIn post:

  1. Return to the VCards page.
  2. Open the card’s preview or public URL.
  3. Locate the LinkedIn Feed.
  4. Confirm that the post appears.
  5. Confirm that it belongs to the intended author or company.
  6. Review the content and date.
  7. Test the post’s available interaction controls.
  8. Review the VCard on desktop and mobile devices.

The selected VCard template determines the exact placement and styling of the LinkedIn Feed.

12.34 Testing as a Public Visitor

Open the VCard in a private or incognito browser window.

This helps confirm that the post can be viewed by someone who is not signed in to the VCard dashboard.

Also confirm that the post is publicly available through LinkedIn. Restricted or unavailable posts may not display for every visitor.

12.35 Reviewing Mobile Display

Many visitors will open the card on a mobile phone after scanning a QR code.

Confirm that:

  1. The LinkedIn post fits within the screen.
  2. The post does not extend beyond the card layout.
  3. Text remains readable.
  4. Images and media display correctly.
  5. The visitor can continue scrolling below the post.
  6. Other VCard buttons remain accessible.
  7. The page does not become unnecessarily slow.

12.36 Reviewing Page Performance

LinkedIn content is loaded from an external service and may take additional time to appear.

After adding multiple posts:

  1. Open the VCard on a mobile connection.
  2. Confirm that the main contact information loads promptly.
  3. Scroll to the LinkedIn section.
  4. Confirm that each post eventually loads.
  5. Remove lower-priority posts when the card becomes too long or slow.

The most important contact and business information should remain accessible even while external content is loading.

Maintaining LinkedIn Content

12.37 Reviewing Posts Regularly

Review the LinkedIn Feed periodically for:

  1. Removed posts
  2. Broken embeds
  3. Outdated promotions
  4. Old dates
  5. Changed services
  6. Former employees
  7. Old product information
  8. Expired registrations
  9. Content that no longer reflects the brand
  10. Shared posts that should be replaced with originals

Update or remove outdated entries.

12.38 Limited-Time Posts

When a post promotes a limited-time opportunity, record its closing date outside the VCard.

After the opportunity ends:

  1. Replace the embed with current content,
  2. Delete the outdated post, or
  3. Temporarily hide the LinkedIn Feed.

Visitors should not be expected to determine whether an old offer is still valid.

12.39 Maintaining Professional Consistency

The embedded posts should support the VCard’s:

  1. Name and occupation
  2. Company
  3. Services
  4. Products
  5. Professional description
  6. Current branding
  7. Intended audience
  8. Business objectives

Avoid displaying posts that conflict with the information presented elsewhere on the card.

Duplicating VCards

12.40 Reviewing LinkedIn Content After Duplication

When a VCard is duplicated, review the LinkedIn section of the new card.

Copied professional content may not be suitable for the duplicate card’s new owner or purpose.

After duplication:

  1. Open the duplicated VCard.
  2. Select LinkedIn Embed.
  3. Review every saved post.
  4. Delete entries that belong only to the original card.
  5. Add posts appropriate to the new card.
  6. Review the LinkedIn Feed publicly.

Troubleshooting LinkedIn Embeds

12.41 The Post Does Not Appear

Confirm that:

  1. The Embed Tag was saved.
  2. LinkedIn Feed is enabled in Manage Sections.
  3. The VCard is active.
  4. The correct VCard was edited.
  5. The complete embed code was pasted.
  6. The original LinkedIn post still exists.
  7. The code contains ugcPost.
  8. The public page has been refreshed.
  9. The browser is not displaying an older cached page.

12.42 The System Rejects the Embed Code

Review the code for:

share

The code may represent a shared LinkedIn post, which is not supported.

Locate the original LinkedIn post and copy its embed tag. Confirm that the original code contains:

ugcPost

12.43 Only the Code Appears

The Embed Tag may be incomplete or may have been pasted as ordinary text.

Copy the complete embed code again and replace the existing entry.

Make sure the opening and closing iframe or embed tags are included.

12.44 A Post URL Appears Instead of the Embedded Post

An ordinary LinkedIn address may have been pasted instead of the Embed Tag.

Replace it with the complete LinkedIn embed code.

12.45 The Add Form Will Not Save

Confirm that:

Type is selected
Embed Tag is completed

Also confirm that:

  1. Post is selected as the Type.
  2. The field is not blank.
  3. The complete code has been pasted.
  4. The browser session is still active.
  5. The form has not been submitted repeatedly.

12.46 The Post Was Added Twice

Delete one duplicate entry.

Refresh the public VCard and confirm that only one copy remains.

12.47 An Old Post Still Appears

After editing:

  1. Confirm that the update success message appeared.
  2. Refresh the public card.
  3. Open the card in a private browser window.
  4. Clear cached page data when necessary.
  5. Confirm that the correct LinkedIn record was edited.
  6. Confirm that the correct VCard was opened.

12.48 The Original LinkedIn Post Was Deleted

Delete the corresponding VCard embed or replace it with another original post.

The VCard cannot display content that is no longer available from LinkedIn.

12.49 The LinkedIn Feed Is Too Long

Remove lower-priority posts and retain only the strongest professional content.

Use the LinkedIn profile social link to direct visitors to the complete account when they want to view more posts.

12.50 LinkedIn Embed Checklist

Before completing the LinkedIn section, confirm that:

  1. The correct VCard is being edited.
  2. Post is selected as the Type.
  3. The complete embed code was pasted.
  4. The code contains ugcPost.
  5. Shared-post code containing share was not used.
  6. Duplicate entries were removed.
  7. LinkedIn Feed is enabled in Manage Sections.
  8. Every post appears on the public card.
  9. Posts belong to the correct person or company.
  10. Outdated content was removed.
  11. The card was reviewed on desktop and mobile.
  12. The public page remains easy to load and navigate.
  13. A LinkedIn profile social link is also included when appropriate.

Chapter Completion

At the end of this chapter, the user should understand how to obtain a supported original LinkedIn post embed, add it to a digital card, edit and delete saved posts, control the LinkedIn Feed’s public visibility, test the embedded content, and resolve unsupported shared-post errors.
