Calendar-to-Composer Workflow

The Publishing Calendar includes several normal-user shortcuts for opening the Social Composer and creating new content.

Create New Post

The calendar header includes Create New Post. Select this action when you want to open the Composer without choosing a specific calendar date first.

Mobile Create Button

On smaller screen layouts, the calendar can provide a floating Add button that opens the same Social Composer.

Create from the Weekly Planner

Each current or future day in the Weekly Planner can include a Create action.

  1. Open Publishing Calendar.
  2. Use Week view.
  3. Navigate to the week you want to plan.
  4. Locate the intended current or future day.
  5. Select Create.
  6. The Social Composer opens with the calendar date included in the Composer URL.

Why the Weekly Date Is Useful

The Weekly Planner passes the selected day to the Composer using a date value. This lets the Composer initialize the scheduled date for that day while you continue configuring the posting time, timezone, channels, caption, and media.

Create from the Monthly Grid

Month view also provides Add controls within calendar cells. Selecting the Add control opens the Social Composer.

In the current source, the monthly Add shortcut does not pass that day through the same dated URL parameter used by the Weekly Planner. Confirm the Date in Posting Schedule before submitting the post.

Finish the Post in Composer

After entering from the calendar, complete the standard Social Composer workflow:

  • Select channels
  • Choose content type
  • Add caption
  • Add eligible media
  • Review Channel Preview
  • Choose Publish Now, Schedule, or Draft

Creating for a Future Day

When the purpose is calendar planning, select Schedule and verify the Date, Time, and Timezone before choosing Schedule Post.

Return to the Calendar

After scheduling the content, you can return to the Publishing Calendar and verify that the new record appears on the expected day.
