Draft Publishing Option

The Social Composer includes a Draft publishing option described as Save as draft. Drafts let you preserve unfinished social content without publishing it immediately.

When to Use Draft

Use a draft when:

  • The caption is still being written.
  • The correct media has not been finalized.
  • You want to return to the post later.
  • The publishing date has not been finalized.
  • The content needs additional review before publishing.

Content Required to Save

The Composer only enables a meaningful draft save when there is content to preserve. Source logic allows a draft when there is a caption, one or more media attachments, or hashtags.

Saving the Draft

  1. Create or begin the post in Publish.
  2. Add the content you want to preserve.
  3. Select Draft under Publishing Options.
  4. Select Save Draft.

A successful save can display Draft saved successfully!.

What a Draft Can Preserve

The draft model can preserve normal publishing information including:

  • Selected account IDs
  • Selected Media Library attachment IDs
  • Caption
  • Publishing content types
  • Internal notes
  • Optional scheduled date and time
  • Story customization metadata
  • Selected audio information

Drafts Are User-Scoped

The backend retrieves drafts using both the draft identifier and the signed-in user's ID. This keeps the ordinary draft workflow associated with the user who owns the draft record.

If the Save Fails

The interface can display Failed to save draft. Review the current content and retry. A persistent application error should be reported to support.

Where Drafts Are Reviewed

Draft records are available through the Social Activity workflow. They can be reopened in the Composer using Edit Draft.
