65.1 Treat Production Changes Deliberately

Agent changes can affect real visitor Conversations. Use a controlled sequence when modifying prompts, Knowledge, appearance, Lead capture, Workflows, and other operational behavior.

65.2 Change One Meaningful Item at a Time

A smaller change makes it easier to determine which adjustment improved or degraded the result.

65.3 Test Knowledge Changes

  1. Confirm the Source reaches Indexed status.
  2. Preview what the AI sees.
  3. Review Documents and Chunks where useful.
  4. Ask realistic questions in Playground.
  5. Review Diagnostics and retrieved Sources.

65.4 Test Prompt and Guardrail Changes

After changing System Prompt, Retrieval Confidence, response length, Starter Prompts, or other Agent behavior, test questions that should be answered as well as questions the Agent should handle cautiously.

65.5 Test Curated Answers

Confirm intended phrases activate the Curated Answer and unrelated visitor questions do not trigger it accidentally.

65.6 Test Workflows

Before making a Workflow Active, test expected triggers, non-matching phrases, Question variables, Branch paths, Tag Lead steps, supported Webhook steps, and Escalation behavior.

65.7 Test Calls to Action

Confirm the CTA label accurately describes its destination and that the Target URL opens the intended next step.

65.8 Test Lead Capture

Use Playground and controlled website tests to verify when Lead capture appears and which visitor fields are requested.

65.9 Review Website Installation Changes

After changing Allowed Origins, Restricted Paths, embed installation, or widget appearance, verify both pages where the widget should appear and pages where it should remain hidden.

65.10 Publish Only After Testing

Use Publish or Re-publish after the updated Agent behaves correctly in testing. Then perform a controlled production Conversation to verify the live experience.
