53.1 What Calls to Action Are

Calls to action, or CTAs, are buttons that can surface during visitor Conversations to help move a visitor toward a defined action.

The deployed interface describes them as buttons used to drive demos, sign-ups, purchases, or other targeted destinations.

53.2 Opening Calls to Action

Open the Agent and select CTAs.

The page heading is Calls to action and contains an Add a CTA form.

53.3 CTA Fields

The user-facing form provides:

  • Name (internal)
  • Button label
  • Kind
  • Target URL

53.4 Internal Name

The internal Name helps workspace users identify the CTA configuration. It is separate from the visitor-facing Button label.

Use a clear internal identifier that describes the CTA's purpose.

53.5 Button Label

The Button label is the action text a visitor sees.

Examples include:

  • Book a demo
  • View pricing
  • Start signup
  • Learn more
  • Buy now

Use wording that accurately describes what happens after the visitor selects the button.

53.6 CTA Kinds

The deployed CTA interface provides these Kinds:

  • buy
  • demo
  • signup
  • book
  • link

Select the type that most closely matches the visitor action.

53.7 Target URL

Enter the complete destination in Target URL.

Verify that the URL is correct, publicly reachable as intended, and points to the exact page the Button label promises.

53.8 Creating the CTA

  1. Enter the internal Name.
  2. Enter the visitor-facing Button label.
  3. Select the Kind.
  4. Enter the Target URL.
  5. Select Add CTA.

53.9 Existing CTA List

The Existing section displays each CTA's visitor label, Kind, and destination.

This provides a quick way to verify where configured buttons will direct visitors.

53.10 Deleting a CTA

Use the delete action beside the CTA and confirm the request.

Before deleting a CTA that may already be used in live visitor flows, confirm that its removal will not leave an important conversion path unavailable.

53.11 Testing CTAs

Use Playground to test realistic visitor questions that should cause a CTA to appear.

Playground renders CTA information with the response and lets you verify the visitor-facing Button label and destination before relying on the CTA in production.

53.12 CTA Best Practices

  • Keep labels action-oriented and accurate.
  • Send visitors directly to the intended next step.
  • Avoid multiple competing CTAs for the same visitor intent.
  • Re-test CTAs after changing destination URLs.
  • Use CTAs as part of a coherent visitor journey rather than as unrelated promotional buttons.
