33.1 Opening Agent Settings

From an Agent workspace, select Settings. The Agent Settings page contains the Agent profile plus website deployment controls.

The profile section controls the identity, instruction layer, and retrieval safety threshold that shape visitor answers.

33.2 Changing the Agent Name

Use the Name field under Basics to change the Agent's workspace identity.

  1. Open the Agent.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Locate Basics.
  4. Update the Name.
  5. Select Save changes.

This should not be confused with the visitor-facing Persona Display name available under Customize.

33.3 Changing the Default Language

The Default language selector supports EN, ES, FR, DE, PT, JA, AR, and ZH in the deployed form.

Change this when the Agent's normal default-language behavior needs to change, then save the Agent profile.

33.4 Understanding the System Prompt

The System prompt is the Agent's instruction layer. It is presented to the model before indexed Knowledge and live visitor messages are incorporated.

Use it to define:

  • The Agent's role.
  • How it should communicate.
  • Important boundaries.
  • What it should prioritize.
  • When it should ask follow-up questions.
  • How it should behave when Knowledge is insufficient.

33.5 System Prompt Length

The Settings form displays the current character count against a 2,000-character limit.

Prefer clear, purposeful instructions rather than filling the field with factual content that belongs in Knowledge Sources.

33.6 Retrieval Confidence

The Retrieval confidence threshold determines how confident a retrieved Knowledge match must be before the Agent uses that information to answer.

The interface states that below the threshold the Agent should say it does not know instead of guessing.

33.7 Adjusting the Threshold

You can adjust the threshold using the numeric input or slider. The accepted range is 0 through 1, in increments of 0.01.

The interface displays the same value as a percentage for easier review.

33.8 Default Guidance

The deployed interface explains that 0.5 is tuned for the configured Cloudflare bge-base retrieval environment and that a stricter value may be appropriate for different embedding environments or stricter confidence requirements.

Do not raise the threshold simply because a higher number appears safer. An excessively strict threshold can cause relevant Knowledge to be rejected.

33.9 Saving Profile Changes

Select Save changes. A successful update can display Changes saved.

33.10 Publishing Is Separate

Saving Agent profile settings and publishing are separate operations. Review and test significant changes before using Re-publish when a new published snapshot is needed for live visitor operation.
