75.1 Affiliate Programs Overview

The Affiliate Programs workspace defines business programs through which affiliate activity can qualify for commissions or discounts. Access is controlled separately from the other Affiliate work areas.

Users with the applicable operational permission can review program records and, when their permission allows, create or edit program information.

75.2 Program List Information

The confirmed program list includes information such as:

  • Program Name.
  • From Date.
  • To Date.
  • Priority.
  • Whether discount behavior is enabled.
  • Whether commission behavior is enabled.
  • Date Created.

75.3 Opening a Program

  1. Open Affiliate.
  2. Select Affiliate Programs.
  3. Locate the intended program.
  4. Review its effective dates.
  5. Review its priority.
  6. Review whether commission or discount behavior applies.
  7. Open the record when more detail is required.

75.4 Effective Dates

A program can have a From Date and To Date. Use these dates to understand whether the program applied when a registration, order, invoice, or other qualifying event occurred.

Do not assume a program applies indefinitely when an expiration date is stored.

75.5 Program Priority

The program record stores a Priority value. When multiple programs are relevant to activity, priority can be part of how the program relationship is interpreted by the Affiliate workflow.

Review the current program record rather than assuming that the oldest or newest program is automatically the applicable one.

75.6 Commission Behavior

Affiliate Programs support commission information and multiple commission calculation concepts. The stored program can determine whether commission is enabled and what business calculation applies.

Program details can represent fixed or percentage-based commission behavior and other calculation structures supported by the module.

75.7 Discount Behavior

A program can separately enable discount behavior. Commission and discount are therefore not the same operational concept.

Review both when a program uses them so that a discount applied to business activity is not mistaken for the affiliate's commission amount.

75.8 First-Invoice Behavior

The Affiliate source includes commission and discount concepts associated with first invoices.

When reviewing activity under such a program, confirm whether the qualifying transaction falls within the period or invoice count represented by the program.

75.9 Editing a Program

When your account has edit permission:

  1. Open the exact Affiliate Program.
  2. Review the existing dates and behavior.
  3. Verify the business reason for the change.
  4. Change only the applicable program information.
  5. Save the program.
  6. Reopen it and verify the saved values.

75.10 Historical Activity

Changing a program should not be treated as an informal way to rewrite historical business activity. Review existing Orders, Logs, and Wallet records when investigating prior commissions.

75.11 Reviewing Program Performance

Use Affiliate Orders, Logs, Wallet activity, and Reports to understand the results associated with affiliate programs.

Program definitions explain how activity is intended to be treated; detailed business records show what actually occurred.

75.12 Recommended Program Workflow

  1. Open the Program list.
  2. Confirm the intended Program.
  3. Review effective dates and Priority.
  4. Review commission and discount behavior.
  5. Make a permitted operational change only when required.
  6. Save and verify it.
  7. Review related activity to confirm expected results.

75.13 Best Practices

  • Use clear Program Names.
  • Verify effective dates.
  • Understand whether commission, discount, or both apply.
  • Check Program Priority when multiple programs exist.
  • Review detailed transaction records for historical questions.
  • Verify changes after saving.
